Celebrity Century Review
Having just returned from our first Celebrity Cruise aboard the Celebrity Century and I wanted to post a Celebrity Century review that hopefully others can benefit from it.
Some background on our cruising experience. This is our 6th cruise we have taken in the last 20 years so by no means are we what you would call experts. Nor would you call us rookies either. In the past 20 years we have cruised with Royal Caribbean, Disney, Carnival and Holland (twice). We have been also fortunate enough to attain a financial level where the last 3 cruises have been at the Suite level.
We booked the Celebrity Century out of Miami Florida, as we wanted to take a New Years Eve Cruise. A word of caution if you are looking to take a cruise over any New Year you will want to book very early. For example, the first week of October there were several options on several cruise lines. In the second week of October most all of these choices we gone.
We left the port of Miami on December 30th 2009 and returned January 4th, 2010.
The Good:
Games Review of Halo: Reach
Halo: Reach is currently under development by Marcus Lehto’s team at Bungie (formerly a Microsoft subsidiary by the name of Bungie Software Products Corporation).
Reach takes place in the year 2552 AD (not to be confused with the Buddhist Era year BE 2552). This futuristic sci-fi story begins with United Nations Space Command (UNSC) humans fiercely fighting a bitter war with the Covenant alien species. The player takes on this alien collective through the role of an elite Spartan super-solider named Noble 6, one of the members of the UNSC spec-ops unit, Noble Team.
Halo: Reach differs from its predecessor, Halo 3, in that armour abilities are now reusable and persistent, remaining with the player until they are replaced. This is in stark contrast to Halo 3, which only allowed players to take advantage of “one-use” power-ups for temporary advantages. Although Halo: Reach has no handheld firearms, it does feature jet-packs, holograms, active camouflage, and invincible “armour lock” ability.
The Forge level editor originally appearing in Halo 3 is set to make an appearance in Halo: Reach as well, having been improved with bug fixes and extra functionality like object orientation snapping and the ability to phase objects into other objects. Several Bungie-developed maps are also planned for shipment along with the main game.

Games Review Of Dragon Age: Origins
Published by Electronic Arts in November and December 2009, Dragon Age: Origins is considered to be a “dark heroic fantasy with mature themes”. It is even thought of by many to be the “spiritual successor” to the Baldur’s Gate game series which, in turn, was based on the original Dungeons & Dragons RPGs.
Dragon Age: Origins is set in the mythical kingdom of Ferelden, with players assuming either the role of a mage, rogue, or warrior who must unite this strife-ridden kingdom in order to repel a demon invasion. Each of these classes may be upgraded into specialisations like berserkers, templars, rangers, assassins, spirit healers, and shape-shifters.
Players embark on their adventures using a “party system” whereby the featured main character is accommodated by up to three other party members chosen from a non-playing character (NPC) pool. Decisions the player makes throughout the game influence the accompanying NPCs, who may leave the party or even attack the player if they strongly disagree with them.
Characters are also given unique backgrounds depending on their race and class. These unique characters are what put the word “origins” in the game’s title, as each character gets a different story depending on their origins.
